Scientific Director – Medical Education
Home-based

The world of Medical Communications is a challenging one – but it is also utterly thrilling.
Combining compassion with healthcare innovation, this MedEd agency supports a wealth of clients as they take their products from first concept through to development and commercialisation. From identifying thought leaders to field medical training, they are there every step of the way as a nugget of scientific excellence flourishes into a product or treatment that could tackle some of the world’s most challenging diseases. It’s a truly spectacular organisation, but what makes this position particularly unique is the fact that it is home-based – providing you with the valuable opportunity to make the role work around your lifestyle commitments. From flexible hours to the undeniable allure of being your own boss and working autonomously, you can shape the practicalities of your work to meet your own needs. Furthermore, this dynamic agency is enjoying an interesting period of growth, and you will benefit from a particularly desirable package that includes a performance-related bonus scheme plus private health insurance. So, do you fancy working in your slippers – without ever having to deal with office politics?! Isn’t that what we all want?!

The role:
If you live and breathe science, then you’re exactly the person that this progressive agency is looking for. They want someone who doesn’t just know the ins and outs of science – they want someone who truly loves the transformative capabilities of the scientific and medical world. As such, they are seeking someone who can share that passion with their clients and their account teams, ensuring the scientific content of their campaigns is delivered to the highest standards. Translating your understanding of the clients’ products and therapy areas, you will direct the editorial aspects of their programmes, taking the writing lead on many projects and reviewing the accuracy of work generated by the rest of the team. With a great deal of client contact, you will act as their go-to person for scientific challenges, and you will oversee the outputs from the team. Ensuring every project is providing exceptional value for money, you will also identify organic growth opportunities for the business.

You’ll need:
• Exceptional writing and editing skills.
• At least 7 years of strategic medical communications and medical education expertise, with a good understanding of brand
strategy.
• To be really clever. You’ll have a science degree, preferably supported by a higher or post-graduate qualification.
• A genuine passion for science – you will be expected to immerse yourself in the clients’ therapy areas and understand every
last detail.
• To enjoy sharing your knowledge with solid mentoring capabilities.
• Showstopping organisational skills. You’ll never need directing or micromanaging, because you’ll have a handle on every
deadline, budget and request.
• To be an all-round nice person. You might be working from home, but your ability to make clients and colleagues feel loved
from a distance will be really important.
