The role:
The editorial outputs that this agency produces are quite spectacular – and that is something that you will be overseeing when you join them on their jaw-droppingly creative mission. Taking overall responsibility for the editorial team group, you will be involved in every aspect of their innovative work. From planning resources and monitoring the quality of what they are producing to line-managing a team of highly-skilled staff and conducting their performance management reviews, you will have direct control over the success of their cutting-edge medical communications solutions. Working closely with the client services team, you will also be instrumental in helping the business evolve, spotting opportunities for organic growth and ensuring you are the forefront of new development opportunities. You’ll need:
• Current knowledge of ABPI, industry standards and compliance issues. When you lead your group editorial meetings, you
need to be sure that you’re keeping the team on the right tracks.
• The type of communication and people management capabilities that will make your employees laud you as the best boss
they’ve ever had.
• A good awareness (or the ability to attain awareness) of therapeutic areas, competitors and new products.
• Knockout medical writing and editing skills, gained over at least 15 years in the healthcare/ medical communications sector,
with experience of leading a scientific or medical team.
• Science kudos. You’ll need a life sciences degree, ideally combined with a higher degree such as a Masters, PhD or MD.
• To be commercially savvy, with the confidence to develop and attend pitches.
