This is a fantastic opportunity to join a major player in the Pharmaceutical market which, while having a footprint in 120 countries, maintains a dynamic, entrepreneurial mindset and is always striving for innovation-led improvement. The successful candidate will report directly to the Global Communications Director and be central in building a first-in-class communications team that partners with the Corporate Communications division to drive corporate recognition and awareness, you would also be expected to input indirectly into operational strategy. Key responsibilities:

• Increase brand/asset awareness through creation and delivery of brand communications strategies in order to increase brand visibility and reputation and promote the business as a preferred partner and leading employer.
• Provide valuable strategic communications support to the brand team and execute subsequent tactics with KPIs.
• Raise visibility of clinical and regulatory milestones.
• Manage relationships with patient advocacy groups.
• Earn a seat at the table of senior brand team leadership teams.
• Advocate collaborative working with cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment with business strategy, objectives and communications.
• Lead media relations strategy, contracts and activities as well as digital media and press office activities by creating and disseminating pro-active and reactive communications materials.
• Work with the Director of Communications on executive communications and thought leadership projects and support with media training, presentations and speeches.
• Maintain excellent stakeholder relations across the business, professional organisations and advocacy groups.
• Actively develop relationships within top-tier media and industry commentators and act as their primary point of contact.
• Provide strategic communications support to executive and HR teams and execute agreed course of action.
• Monitor external environment and develop efficiencies in conjunction with the Director of Communications in order to prepare for, manage and mitigate issues.
• Provide support and counsel, ensure alignment, coordination and connectivity of key internal stakeholder groups; promoting collaboration and sharing of best-practice ideas.
• Ensure first rate results by demanding operational excellence both internally and through engaged agencies and measure impact of communications strategies through appropriately developed metrics.
• Ensure all activities are ethical and compliant. Maintain a thorough knowledge of the relevant Codes of Practice (e.g. ABPI, EFPIA) and industry regulations. Develop and successfully champion the uptake of key communications guidelines and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Requisite Skills and Experience:

• Detailed knowledge of the global pharmaceutical and biotech/healthcare market and environment, with strong external networks.
• Previous experience of a client-side, brand communications position in a Pharmaceutical company.
• Strong track record of providing senior strategic communications counsel to executive team and key stakeholders.
• Proven track record of delivering successful, multi-channel campaigns.
• Thorough understanding of pharmaceutical internal communications
• Extensive prior and proven expertise in delivering strategic international healthcare communications programmes, operating at a senior level in strategic corporate communications
• Entrepreneurial spirit, able to create and shape the role. Able to look at problems from different perspectives
• Attention to detail, analytical skills and a creative approach to problem solving.
• Educated to degree level (science qualification, journalism, communications/PR); higher qualification a plus.
