About the Department
Within Novo Nordisk UK Marketing, we work collaboratively with other internal stakeholder to ensure we generate and utilise customer and patient insights, and drive the development of our commercial strategies for our existing product portfolio, as well as creating opportunity for new product launches. We work to define the strategic potential of pipeline products, developing and executing comprehensive pre-launch and launch plans to secure our success, improve patient outcomes and maintain and grow our product portfolio and leadership in diabetes care.

The Job
You have the opportunity to lead the Insulin marketing team of our diabetes care business in the UK. This is a highly visible role requires both strategic thinking and the ability to zoom into the detail to ensure successful growth of our business.

As the line manager of a team of 5 marketing professionals your key responsibility will be the development, management and leadership of the team to deliver and execute upon strong strategic and operational marketing plans for our new generation and modern insulin portfolio.

You will have responsibility for three strategic insulin brands, an imminent insulin launch as well as our complete insulin, needle and device portfolio. This will include driving strategic projects and managing joint ventures that contribute to the growth of our business.

Insight generation, budget development, tactical programme implementation and measurement, field force training and leadership of the UK cross-functional brand teams will be some of your team’s key outputs.

You must ensure your direct reports have clear objectives and motivating ‘stretch’ targets that are consistent with the priorities of the business, ensuring follow up, measurement and review of performance against targets. You will regularly coach the team and manage performance (high and low) ensuring training needs are identified and addressed and talent and marketing skill is developed within the organisation.

As the UK is included both with the global top 10 affiliate and European top 3 you will have a seat on our global insulin brand teams where senior marketing leaders define our global strategy and co-create our brand positioning, messages and materials for affiliate localisation and implementation.

The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level within life sciences, business or marketing and have an advanced marketing qualification. You will have a background of Pharmaceutical Sales and most recently been in a senior strategic marketing role. An in depth knowledge of the UK health system is required and ideally you will be an experienced ABPI signatory. Knowledge of the therapy area (Diabetes) is advantageous and you will have thorough experience in marketing prescription medicines and all marketing processes including strategic planning, market modelling and forecasting, segmentation and targeting.

Line management skills are essential and you must have the ability to coach, lead and mentor.

At times, both domestic and international travel will be required so you must be willing to travel and have a valid UK driving licence. Fluency in spoken and written English is a pre-requisite. You can expect 30 – 60 days of travel per year.
