Our client, an international medical communications agency, is seeking and Account Director to lead a team and a new office site in Cheshire. As well as developing existing accounts to their full potential through relationship building with clients and supporting delivery, you will also be responsible for building a strong and passionate team to ensure ongoing client satisfaction.

This is a great chance for an experienced Account Director to take on further management responsibilities and essentially lead their own business unit.

 Team Leadership:

  • Lead team with an emphasis on professional development
  • Motivate your team, instilling project ownership to ensure smooth running of accounts
  • Regularly review performance of your team
  • Responsible for interviewing and building the team to fully resource assigned accounts

Strategic Direction:

  • Review key deliverables for strategic alignment with client expectations and product strategy
  • Drive strategic elements of the account, including communication and publication plans
  • Proactively identify account opportunities and make recommendations
  • Advise on budget priorities and budget spend

Account Development:

  • Develop and manage an account plan
  • Arrange regular review meetings with client to review status (performance and satisfaction) and prospectively plan future work
  • Lead development of proposals/pitches on existing accounts
  • Create effective partnerships, rather than vendor relationships, with clients
  • Encourage internal team to develop effective relationships with clients

Financial:

  • Develop financial account plan, including forecasts
  • Maintain responsibility for account recovery rates
  • Responsibility for achieving financial targets

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Life science degree
  • Prior experience of running pharmaceutical marketing accounts gained in a medical communications agency or pharmaceutical environment
  • Experience of running an account team
  • Excellent commercial awareness and customer focus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good organisation and planning abilities
  • Ability to lead and work as part of a team
