Our client is an international medical communications agency which is seeking a Senior Account Manager / Account Director to take responsibility for overall client service and financial delivery on a high profile account from either their London or Oxford offices.

This is a large account which spans the marketing mix so there is opportunity to work closely with other teams and other disciplines and you will be charged with providing strategic guidance to both the client and to internal account teams.

Team Management:

  • Lead, coach and motivate the internal account team, providing support and advice on client and project issues
  • Ensure project teams are focused and motivated to deliver
  • Develop close working relationships with team members in order to enable/facilitate the provision of regular feedback on performance, both directly and to line managers
  • Working with senior editorial colleagues, ensure appropriate account team resource levels are maintained via effective account team forecasting
  • Actively participate in delivery of the training and development programme, coaching individual team members and leading workshops

Client Management:

  • Ensure a continuing good relationship with clients and that a consistently efficient and effective service is provided. Personally establish positive long-term relationships with appropriate key staff in client accounts
  • Provide strategic input and commercial understanding to client
  • Ensure clients receive proactive ideas and creative input to assist and challenge their own thinking and planning


  • Ensure best practice financial management across accounts
  • Develop and sign-off account plans

Business Development:

  • Work with the Client Service Directors to develop new business opportunities, ventures and ideas to propose to both existing and new clients
  • Drive proposal development and participate in new business development pitches

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Life science degree
  • Previous account management experience gained within a medical communications environment
  • Previous experience working on publications accounts
  • Previous experience of running an accounts team
