Senior Project Manager

The overall responsibility of the Senior Project Manager is to act as the scientific, editorial and creative lead on key accounts.

You will be part of a team that will manage the development of client communication programmes for educational and promotional campaigns and be aware of the medical and commercial elements of each project. You should be capable of understanding the strategic direction of your accounts and the imperatives for that brand – projects you work on must communicate such information.

The Senior Project Manager will add value in terms of content, therapeutic expertise, literature awareness and data knowledge and understanding. They will deliver high quality materials ensuring creativity, scientific and editorial accuracy, and review/comment on the work of others.

Part of the role will be mentoring staff. As scientific lead you must ensure materials are produced to a high scientific standard, and you must be capable of communicating this scientific knowledge to different audiences – internally or externally to clients.

There is a requirement for significant editorial experience in medical communications working with leading pharmaceutical groups.

The Senior Project Manager will have experience in client and key opinion leader relations.

Tasks and responsibilities

● Contribute leadership to deliver excellence in terms of creativity, knowledge and guidance throughout the entire project process.
● Develop briefs and project specifications for internal or freelance staff including writers, editors, designers/printers.
● Coordinate between Account Management and Project Management to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget.
● Write, review, edit, and proof copy to ensure a standard of excellence in meeting the brief and Synergy standards.
● Ensure all outputs are scientifically accurate and meet industry compliance and Code of Practice requirements.
● Attend meetings to represent Project Management function and discuss project design and implementation of delivery. Develop relationships with clients and key opinion leaders and represent Synergy at external meetings.
● Keep up-to-date with data, new references and developments in the disease or drug area of responsibility and ensure that all team members maintain an up-to-date understanding.

Qualifications (Essential/Desirable)

● Life Sciences degree or higher - D

Technical/Scientific/Creative competencies

● Be capable of the translation of technical and scientific data into accessible language for a variety of audiences - E
● Demonstrate a capability to understand a range of therapeutic and scientific concepts, and be able to communicate these to your team - E
● Understand the fundamentals of statistics and clinical trials - D
● Creative ability to communicate at a broad range of technical levels to a broad range of audiences - E
● Work to high standards and deliver excellence in outputs - E

Management Experience

● Line management experience - D
● Experience coaching others in creative and scientific communication - E

Work Experience

● Practical experience of working in a medical education environment, understanding business objectives, services provided and operating procedures - E
● Experience of working within compliance and Code of Practice of Pharmaceutical industry - E
● Prior experience dealing with clients/customers and developing relationships with these contacts - D
