Account Manager

Reporting to: Team Lead

About the Role:
The Account Manager will take an active role in the management and successful delivery of key publications and other deliverables e.g. conference abstracts within an account. The role will be responsible for multiple aspects of publications management, including but not limited to stakeholder management, budgeting, briefing, scheduling, delivery and reconciliations.

Another key part of the Account Manager role is the ability to identify and develop opportunities for business development.

Key responsibilities:
1. Prepare and manage publication budgets for assigned products, collaborate with Finance and Team Leader to coordinate the processing and reporting of all financial activities
2. Liaise with Clients to obtain project briefs and timelines
3. Maintain contact with Clients to keep them informed of project progress and to track project scope
4. Support Editorial Director and Team Lead in team meetings with the production and update of account specific status reports and project timelines
5. Serve as central contact with internal and external stakeholders on all aspects of projects to ensure efficient and transparent communication by ensuring accurate summaries of all interactions are circulated in a timely manner
6. Liaise with the Editorial Team/Director to develop and implement timelines and ensure the quality and feasibility of commitments made to Clients
7. In conjunction with the Editorial Director and Team Lead, develop existing accounts and new business opportunities to provide additional publications business on behalf of SYNERGY by:
• Contributing to new business pitches/account development
• Contributing to strategic publications planning planning

Skills and experience – essential vs. desirable:

• Educated to degree level in a relevant subject (e.g. Biological/Life Sciences)
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in publications management including budgeting, scheduling and reconciling projects, preferably in a medical communications company
• Ability to juggle several responsibilities, accounts and projects, manage incoming workload effectively and maintain standards of excellence
• Excellent numeracy, written and oral communication skills
• Team player who is quick-thinking and calm under pressure with excellent time management and organisational skills
• Previous experience must include delivery of a variety of publication types, including conference abstracts, primary and review manuscripts, and oral presentations
• Understanding and experience working with multiple stakeholders (Clients, authors, journals) in the timely delivery of materials
• Working knowledge of submission processes to both journals and congresses
• Good working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, EndNote

• Previous experience of working in oncology would be an advantage
• Knowledge of compliance and content management systems, including Datavision (at least 6 months experience) would be an advantage
• Working knowledge of the components of a publications plan and how to develop ongoing updates would be advantageous
• Previous experience reviewing scientific copy would be advantageous
