About the Role:
The Junior Editor role will provide essential support both to the editorial and wider team to help ensure the successful development and delivery of a wide range of medical education materials including publications.
The role will undertake a variety of quality control and editing tasks to ensure that the materials produced by the Publications Team are always clear, accurate and consistent. Tasks will include supporting the team through a variety of activities, including data checking copy, preparing marked-up reference packages and undertaking the submission process of journal and congress materials.

The Junior Editor role will also manage the content approval process for publications and other materials using Datavision, Zinc, Veeva etc., so previous knowledge of these systems would be an advantage.

Key responsibilities:
1. Editing and proofing content of medical education materials, including but not limited to: publications (primary and review articles) and related materials e.g. abstracts, posters and galley proofs.
2. Preparing materials and managing the Client approval processes (according to Client SOPs) including:
a. Datavision: uploading content and managing communications and comments within the Datavision process as well as ensuring project workflows are up to date at all times for compliance/reporting purposes
3. Provide high level guidance on the selection of potential journals and congresses
4. Responsible for the submission of congress abstracts and publications including:
a. Gathering required author information such as approval, disclosures forms, address, education level, CVs etc
b. Completing relevant paperwork and ensuring format/style meets journal/congress specifications
c. Coordinating response to reviewers’ comments and re-submission process in a standard format
5. Responsible for accurate and timely delivery of materials in accordance with agency, Client and industry standards

Skills and experience – essential vs. desirable:

• Educated to a minimum of degree level in a relevant subject (e.g. Biological/Life Sciences)
• A minimum of 1 years’ previous editorial experience ideally gained from working in a medical publications team (or relevant field)
• A minimum of 1 years’ experience editing and proofing documents to ensure consistent format and language
• Advanced knowledge of submission process to both journals and congresses
• Good working knowledge of Datavision, ENDNOTE, MS Word and PowerPoint
• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
• Team player with strong interpersonal skills

• Experience in the oncology therapy area with a working of oncology journals and congresses would be highly desirable
• Advanced knowledge of referencing materials with primary supporting data and clinical studies gained through experience in a previous publications role
