Business Unit Director – Medical Education - Berkshire

Business Unit Director – Medical Education - Berkshire

Whether they’re leading webinars and webcasts, shaping integrated digital channel programmes or establishing the groundwork for exceptional advisory boards, our client is leading the charge for consistently tip-top medical education. As an independent agency that’s been up and running for nearly 20 years, they’re well-established, well-respected and well-liked. Which is just as well, as they’ve got oodles of great clients who rely on them for both digital and traditional programmes. So what makes them so unique? Crucially, they’re really hands on. The senior management team don’t just oversee accounts – they’re involved in the day-to-day shenanigans of delivering flipping brilliant results for every single client. Which means their people are constantly learning from the best, and there’s the type of buzz that can only come from a really finely-tuned agency. Now while they could sit back on their haunches and enjoy the lovely warm glow that comes from being at the top of their game, they’re on the up again. Sound the klaxon people, this just got interesting…

The role
It’s a simple little number really. The agency has grown from 20 people to 30 in the space of the last few years. Now they’re up for a slightly more aggressive push, this time looking to swell their head count to 40 or so, and generate their associated revenue to around £4.5-5million. Taking strategic oversight of key client challenges, you’ll have one eye on the bigger picture, looking for ways to develop what already exists in the agency, and what could potentially be a nice money-spinner – which obv means you’ll be at the helm of profit and loss too. With a guiding hand across a team of Account Directors, Account Managers and Executives at various levels, you’ll be instrumental in growing and developing their skills, making sure that there is a delightful pipeline of talent waiting in the wings. There’s also the practical side of this growth. There will be operational challenges to consider – such as new premises and recruitment campaigns – and they’ll look to you to formalise their processes a bit more to help them evolve to the next stage. Which is a roundabout way of saying that you’ll bring your expertise to the table to help them grow, grow, grow. It’s a lovely juicy challenge that is ripe for the picking – so go ahead and pick it.

You will:
• Love the world of medical education.
• Be a director-level superstar. Someone who has big ideas and plenty of experience.
• Know how to grow existing business, identify revenue opportunities and secure new clients.
• Have a walloping great dollop of ideas on developing consistent business processes.
• Have experience of implementing group strategies.
• Be a real people person – someone who can charm clients, and lead and inspire a team.
• Be financially savvy – you’ll need to know your way around a P&L spreadsheet.
• Lead by example. This is a senior management team who roll their sleeves up, and get stuck in.
